Each model makes use of the same heat-treated aluminum 4-inch trail frame & the SRAM X-7 rear derailleur but that is where the similarities start to diverge.The comp model of the Diamondback mountain bikes will set you back about hundred & thirty dollars over the base recoil & is meant for a more competitive & aggressive rider. I have been riding for over fifteen years & I can tell the difference between each of these mountain bikes but I don't think a casual rider will see much of a difference. In the event you are riding on some local trails & don't plan on getting actual aggressive on a quantity of the higher altitude biking trails then you can be assured that the base recoil will handle fine for you.One place you will notice the difference is in a steep incline, the comp will give you a cleaner shifting range with small slipping or lagging.
